Ricardian Tour, June 2008
|
June 27, 2008
In our last day together, we went to see three portraits of Richard III in a row, two at the Society of Antiquaries and one, the most famoust one, in the National Portrait Gallery. The first portrait at the Antiquaries is the oldest portrait surviving, probably a replica of a contemporary portrait, and was recently restaured, showing that Richard's expression had been make harsher by following over-painting. The second one is known as the "Broken Sword" and doesn't bring any more resemblance to Richard. |

F June 28, 2008. I came back to Richmond-upon-Thames, where I had spent two summers in 1996 and 1997. It is still beautiful, but I didn't see my old used bookstores anymore. |
