Ricardian Tour, June 2008
| June 16, 2008 | |
| After meeting with the group in Manchester, we headed north to Cumbria and we spent the afternoon in the spacious rooms of Carlisle Castle, one of the main fortress along the Scottish Border. Mary Queen of Scots was kept prisoner here for some time. Carlisle Castle was briefly conquered by Bonnie Prince Charlie during his rebellion. In 1483 Richard III built a gun-tower in the west curtain wall, known as Richard III's Tower or the Tile or Musgrave Tower, on whose south wall there should be his badge. Anyway, I didn't see it. click on the images to enlarge. |
